Are you ready for the show?
Day three on our Durango Get-A-Way started with a late rise, cup of tea and a oh so yummy and another filling breakfast. After we got ready for the day, we headed downtown to enjoy the local sites, fresh air and to see what life would bring us today. And let me tell you Steve picked today’s entertainment which was dinner and a show. That’s right y’all we went to the Bar D Chuckwagon.
Dinner and a show…how can you go wrong with that!?! Now I will say this was enjoyable, but it is geared toward entertainment for the whole family and all ages. Once you are all checked in you have about an hour or so to see all of the activities….there are so many activities!
Some of which include:
- Bar D Train – Ride around the Bar D spread
- Lil’ Buckaroo Park – Playground for the youngsters
- Record Booth – The Bar D Wranglers play requests
- Shooting Gallery – Shoot an old west style revolver
- Hay Ride – Wagon pulled by a vintage tractor
- Gold Panning – Horse Shoes
- Boot Hill Replica – Nature Trail Easy hike to the “Hermit’s Ruin”
- Roping – Rope a steer dummy
- Leather Shop – Leather & western clothing accessories
- Gift Gallery – Unique decor items and more
- Blacksmith Shop – Chimes, metal objects, and western decor
- Kid’s Korral – Fun things for the kids
When they are ready to serve dinner, they call everyone to supper. The serving is organized and quick …the servers place portions on your “tin” plate as quickly as you can walk through the serving line. Since they pride themselves on having fun for the whole family, alcoholic beverages are not served or allowed at this time. When purchasing your ticket, you have the choice of sliced Roast Beef, boneless Chicken Breast simmered in barbecue sauce, a combo of both Roast Beef and Chicken Breast or a flame broiled Rib Eye Steak cooked in the medium range. All dinners are served with potato, oven baked beans, homemade biscuits w/ butter & honey, chunky applesauce, home baked spice cake, cowboy coffee or real lemonade.
Once everyone is finished with dinner and the plates are cleared, the show begins. The Bar D Wranglers entertain the whole family with their fun old west music and a comedy stage show. These fine gentlemen have been doing this for years and have perfected their craft and the art of interacting with the audience. The Wranglers are made of:
Gary Cook – A 2 time National Flatpick Champion guitar player and sings tenor.
John Moore – Plays mandolin and guitar; Sings lead and harmony.
Joel Racheff – sings comedy and plays upright bass.
Richard Espinoza – sings lead vocals and plays rhythm guitar.

We ended this day utterly exhausted and so full of memories from a day packed with laughter, memories and love!
